You may be in over your head if you didnt even know you have to carry the provisions in the truck. What about curfew lines, where do they begin? What cities have curfew? What are your lighting requirements? Hours of travel? Phone numbers of local jurisdictions and railroad companies?
Do you have ANY of that stuff? -
I know I had to have the provisions. Night dispatch and all their wisdom told me he faxed everything I needed to me. In which he didn't. I have everything except what I needed for Illinois.
As far as I know none of the places I'm going through or around have any curfews I have to follow with this load. Except for Kentucky, says I can't drive at night.
Lighting requirements are strobes visible from back and front which are my two strobe's on top of my sleeper. No restriction on hours of travel except as noted before.
Why would I need local phone numbers for jurisdictions and railroad companies? I can use all the help I can get.

never had to worry about lighting so far. cept in wyoming if i wanted to drive at night.
but my loads haven't been that miany and my travels haven't been that long. other then hauling rebar mostly and i have lightbar for that.
so keep the harping to yourselves.
does the permits say anything about lighting becuase i haven't had anything yet?
just wondering.DrtyDiesel and aiwiron Thank this. -
Yeah it says in Kentucky I need lights on the widest part of my load if I want to drive at night. Otherwise I just use the flags during the day driving. I don't have any mountable strobes so that's why I said I can't drive at night in Kentucky.

BINGO!! if you dont have the provision sheet the permit is void!DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

I'll make sure I get it before I enter the state.

Rail road companies ????????????
Everyone starts somewhere and all of us that have hauled for a long time were beginners and needed some help. NOT someone telling them they are over their head.CAXPT, the gambler, hotrod1018 and 7 others Thank this. -
Watch Ky. Depends on your rte. They due have curfews. They are listed as counties, Not cities.
Knowing the R.R. numbers are great if running a lowboy and you get hung up.
Look at the gray or silver boxes by the crossings.
They have the 800 # on them and the crossing location, most of the times.
if stuck on a crossing, take your jumper cables and hook them to each track. That will short out their system and also make the crossing lights lite up and the arms to come down.
It also sends a msg. to them there is a train on the track ,when they know one should not be.
