It must be said, and what a better time, Colorado has the absolute WORST roads in the nation,,at least the places I've been. They've been diddling with the idea of a "Hy. 50 Interstate" for years. We have 3( interstates) and desperately need a southern route. Our roads, that b&g will find out, are horribly outdated, with most 2 lane, or the deadly 3 lane, with no real advances in 40 years. For a state that takes in over $300 MILLION on dope tax alone yearly, where is all that money going? It amazes me there was money to build these highways in the 1st place.

Yeah, the roads in and around Denver will wreak havoc on your truck's suspension. But it's not just Denver. It seems to be the norm in every big city. Dallas and Boston are pretty bad also. Just 3 days ago, I was on I-44 coming out of Springfield, MO, heading towards St. Lou. There was a section of road so bad, that I had to take it at 20 mph MAX! On an INTERSTATE! Are you freakin' kidding me? This went on for about 4 or 5 miles. One side was closed off. It's a DISGRACE. I had crap falling all over inside the cab.Last edited: Aug 12, 2023

I don’t envy you the driving part, particularly (I’ve never driven oversized loads), but I deeply envy you being in that part of the country. I’ve been to Telluride twice, and it is absolutely the most breathtakingly beautiful place I’ve ever been.
cke, CAXPT and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I was. Not sure of the restrictions on it, but I've seen plenty of trucks driving that stretch. Not me, i go around in the truck. But on vacations I've seen them quite a bit.
I love a challenging drive, but I don't think I'm up to that in my truck yetcke, FerrissWheel, CAXPT and 3 others Thank this. -
That section US 550 between ridgeway and durango is a truck route. Can’t remember what the height warning is. Has never caused any problems for us.
Not a fun drive with a big truck.dwells40, cke, FerrissWheel and 4 others Thank this. -
Let me rephrase: Trucks are not ADVISED to take that route. They're allowed though.dwells40, cke, FerrissWheel and 3 others Thank this.

Believe me, if you take that stretch of highway, you WILL be concerned. It will have your UNDIVIDED attention. (See what I did there?)dwells40, Hammer166, Gearjammin' Penguin and 5 others Thank this.

Definitely not the monotony that 80 provides for certain.cke, FerrissWheel, CAXPT and 1 other person Thank this.

You do realize that road is so rough because you’re driving on the shoulder that’s collapsing through a temporary construction zone? If I remember right they are completely redoing the west bound side down to the base. It’s only temporary.cke, FerrissWheel, CAXPT and 3 others Thank this.
