I love oversize up here. There is not a whole lot of bs, there is a pilot car out front, so you know exactly what you are driving into, double the money or better for very little cost, most of the time, sometimes a little more time, but not always. What is not to like. I truck for money, love them loads others don't.
When I first wanted to drive the haul road, i basically knew no one doing it, and companies would not lease me on with no haul road experience, so I bought a haul road truck, and bid on some loads under my authority.. I got some long pipe, rented a dolly and went north. lol Pilot cars are independants and many companies were hauling this same pipe, so they could beat it back and grab another load. The old timer that run my front pilot for me the second trip, came back and told dispatch not to send him out, he would run for me only. This worked out great, pretty quick he knew if I needed to chain or not so I new for certainbefore I hit the hill, made life soooo much easier.
When that job was done, I had no problem getting work, but hated hauling freight with no pilot, plus it seemed like I was hauling for nothing, even though I was still making great money. lol
