Oversized loads, who does them, and routing?

    More money more problems.

    There will be many times youll be cursing the state department out due to the bad route or the dispatcher who cant get permits right to save their life.

    Add in the other things that come up on a rare nature like meeting another OD load going the opposite direction when your on a back road with a lead pilot so one of you has to be the responsible driver and pull off to the side with barely any shoulder.

    It tends to be a love hate relationship.

    Dont be afraid to ask questions before you pull the loads and do research before turning the key. There may be metro curfews however some let you pull through depending on size. Other states just blanket oversize in general for curfews. Make notes. Keep them handy.

    Use a GPS that allows you to create YOUR route to match the permitted route. I’m still using Microsoft Streets and Trips on a 10” netbook even though S&T is no longer supported. I’ll probably try CoPilot next

    If the route sucks amend it but stay on route
