It was my understanding that you have to have both heavier rated tires and heavier rated steer axle. I have a 14,600 front axle and run Michelin 295/70 R 22.5 as I routinely carry 14,600 up front. I put 3.25 offset flat face wheels up front to help with irregular wear. It gives the appearance of a wider tire as the wheels sit further out and could help you BS your way past anal cops like this. For every gallon of fuel I carry 80% of the weight goes on my steers, so carrying less fuel may be your easiest option until you figure it out.

interesting, i have never seen such wheel before.

    here car carriers are using 315/60 R22.5 on 9.00x22.5 (16500lbs) or lately 355/50 R22.5 on 11.75x22.5 (17600lbs)

Changing tires and adding more leaf springs won’t change you front weight it might be enough for a dot cop but your truck will feel it sooner or later. From experience we wanted to change a front axle to a 20,000 from 16,000 to add a Hiab but we couldn’t do it. It was going to cost a lot more then just changing tires. I wish it could of been that easy.

I agree with you he was ok with H rated tires I personally think it was a scam the Goodyear tire dealer said they sell a lot of H rated tires.....
