From 81 north, you can take I-66 to exit 6 (Front Royal) and go north up 522 and it takes you back to 81, if you just keep going straight you'll end up on the 81 NB entrance ramp at exit 313 in Winchester.

Aint no "plates" in the road. My company has a customer along that route, we go that way all the time. But since our BOL shows we NEED to go that way, if we get pulled over for something they won't get suspicious about our weight or logs. So just run the speed limit and keep your eyes open cuz there's this one red light that ALWAYS changes at the last second and you have to hit the brakes pretty hard.

Depends on where you run.....Ashland Coop will pull you in for being 250 pounds over......Telling the DOT that you'll burn off the excess won't fly either....Of course...this is from a state that requires OD/OL banners to be 1' longer than what the FMCSA requires....

BTW....Using the bridge formula....48' Cali spreads (With a Long WB tractor) are legal to 86K gross.....You can in some states, get your gross upped to 86K.....ODOT recommended I up it to 85K.....

If you have to, go back to the shipper and tell them they need to off load some freight to keep you legal. Most shippers don't give a flying hoot about your axle weight, and will keep the freight as close as possible to the 45,000 LB mark. It's your job to stop at the first scale and weigh out the truck. If the shipper has a scale, use it.

Take Anheuser Busch for example. They place spacers between the freight and header board, which throws the loads CG on the tandems (the last place you want it). I went back to a Anheuser Busch DC on two different occasions to off-load freight; due to the fact that CRE disengages the 5th wheel slide and I couldn't balance out the weight no matter where I put the tandems.

You're the captain of the ship. If you can't be legal with the freight on board then tell the shipper to off load it until you are legal.

What type of furniture was this as I'm surprised you could get 42,000 in furniture...I've carried MANY trucks FULL(end to end, no room left at all) of furniture and it's never been more than 15,000...

I have always ran about 200 or 300 over on my steers. Get scaled all the time with no issues.

I hauled a load of couches, filled to roof & to doors, was 11,000 lbs.

Maybe this guy was hauling products made by Sauder, you know, like shelves, entertainment centers, computer desks, etc. They're made of sawdust and glue, and covered with cheap plastic veneer. They come in pieces, in a box. The desk my computer is on came in one box, about 6 feet long, 3 feet wide, 6 inches deep, and the #### thing probably weighs more than I do. You can easily fit 42,000 lbs of that type of furniture in a semi-trailer.
