My guess is that this happened in Illinois. The state decided to go after the truck drivers for its fiscal problems. I understand there should be fines for overweights but Illinois fines are way too high.

Mediocre? You do know trucking is the highest paid occupation in 29 states? If this is mediocre i'd hate to see average

Im guessing you didnt see the part that said he was leaving the area when he got stopped?? Are you a car hauler? If so have you never been in a situation similar to this minus the ridiculous ticket? You dont think that cop sits there and waits for trucks to come thru there? Its a cop in rockville centre NY who admitted to me that he sits in the same spot and easily writes 5-10 tickets a week to trucks just trying to turn around Even though the GPS sends you that way and the no truck sign is on the otherside of an overpass that you cant see until he's already on your ###

if your just looking at gross numbers it may be, _if your looking at what those drivers in those states make per hr compared to what everyone else in the state makes per hr then they would be near the bottom.

even a walmart driver making 90k a year working 5 days a week is only making about 15$ an hr for time spent at work away from home so i guess it depends on how you look at the numbers. i look at them for what i am getting paid for every hour of my life spent away from home and family, if a person doesnt have a home or family they probably look at it different. if im doing somthing i wouldnt do for free then the only number that matters to me is what i get paid for my time, and in many cases its pathetic, thus my opinion of mediocre pay.

Well come to south fla. If you find a job that even pays close to 15 a hr then your a lucky person. I get that whole thing but i dont see how or why you factor in ALL the time you've been gone away from home if your not working the entire time your gone. Do that same math without your 10 hr for sleep and 30 min break. I think itll change those #'s drastically. T

Well to me as family man. A local job or any other job makes no sense. Maybe because my cost of living is pretty #### high. But any other job id be a zombie. Id be home but i wouldnt be home because i'd be so #### burnt out each and everyday. Locally i'd work 7 days a week 12/14 hrs a day. No real days off maybe sunday after you unload and reload your truck. I probably have a sweeter gig than most maybe thats why i feel so strongly about the whole pay per hr thing. I work 4-5 days a week and still get my 4-7 days off every 4th week. I can honestly say im pretty spoiled. But if i did calculate every single day im gone from home id probably have a headache at the end
