I think you are. I have heard, anecdotal of course, that CAT's guarantee isn't worth much. If you split weigh a spread or weigh an extra axle group, the scale ticket specifically says they don't certify that those weights are accurate. Therefore, their guarantee normally does include axle weights.

CAT only guarantees gross weight.
They do NOT certify axle weights, or back them up with their guarantee. -
every company I've driven for, if you scaled it first, your good.
have gotten over weight tickets and never had it deducted from my check in 35 yrs.

why are any of you setting any brakes while weighing on a platform scale?

Yeah it seems pretty obvious not to engage air brakes since the scales that matter that is DOT scales have signage indicating not to do that.

It says "all weights are guaranteed". Sounds like the axle weights are guaranteed.

I stand corrected. Upon further review, that IS what is says.
Now, what they determine the difference between "certified" and "guaranteed" is anybody's guess.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I feel the same. I could be wrong, but CAT has printed the difference and I think they mean it. I have never taken an overweight case back to CAT so I have no experience to fall back on. If CAT is guaranteeing tandem weights what happens if the load shifts? The truck is still under Gross. I don't think CAT would take that liability on. Somehow I think that ticket while it says guaranteed, I think the CERTIFIED weight is what they will go by. <<<My opinion only. I would love to see this thread playout.
