Arkansas, BS They have an advaloruem tax. Based on value of Truck and Trailer(s), and mileage ran. It’s a PITA. They mail out a letter, then another telling the amount. Mines usually $12 a yr. Then another letter that’s the actual bill. I wouldn’t even contact them. You’ll hear from them eventually, even if you have 0 miles in Ar. They’ll send a bill for $0. It’s more of a PITA than anything.

Yes that’s standard on a DOT annual inspection.

But, when I go somewhere to get an inspection, Ive been to 2 places the past year(im gonna do my own for 2022) Love in NC and Bills truckstop, both done an inspection and neither measured brakes. It wasn't even listed on the DOT inspection sheet. So, @Rideandrepair, either one will be ok for a annual inspection correct?

That's because its not actually required. Crazy isn't it?! This is why I'm starting my own program every 6 months for 2022. Just finished designing my own forms with all the measurements for brake, lining push rod stroke with tire depth and air pressure. I even put my company logo on them.

What pushed me over the edge was finding a shop that does a thorough job. I called 5 places near my yard last week and nobody could do it. No "inspector" or too busy or didn't measure stroke etc etc.

I like having an extra set of eyes on things as a fail safe. Lots of issues could be missed. However, I'm done with bums, loser shops and/or them not respecting my time. I do a better job, don't have to pay for it and it's at MY convenience on MY schedule.

Now that I think of it, the standard form I used last, didn’t have it. I’ve had some long forms in the past that the inspector put 1” on all slacks. All he did was eyeball them lol.

Every inspection I've had done at TA/Petro shops has included the measurements. There is a short list of locations I would consider trustworthy enough to not use the annual DOT as a sales opportunity, and actually do quality work. Top of my list is the Racine WI Petro. I've had inspections and a few minor repairs done there, and they've been top notch. I've also gotten competent inspections at the TA's in Pembroke NY and Jeffersonville OH. I'm definitely not saying TA/Petro is a destination for quality work, nor that I have tried every location. Just pointing out a convenient option that includes the measurements on the inspection form.

Another option I've used near my home-20 is a local mobile service franchise. For $150 they'll come to me on a scheduled day and do a quality inspection. It's pricey, but saves me breaking a 34 reset by moving the truck to them. They'll offer key service to regulars, so you don't even have to be there. I'm not that regular, and I like to oversee that kind of stuff, so don't use that.

If you could generalize your location, maybe someone knows of a good place near you.
