When i started with Prime in 2014 it was 82% linehaul for owner op/ own authority and 72% for lease.

Certain freight, such as Intermodal is moved almost exclusively by owner ops.

Loads are doled out based upon who is ready to go in a certain area first.

Many times as a company driver, I would deadhead three & four digit empty miles that no owner op would ever consider doing so that is a factor to consider when loads are sent; how far would you run to grab the next load.

 

Are you talking about power only with them because that would be running under the advanced Fleet program, similar to wiltrans where they use prime's trailers. http://advancedfleetprogram.com. If you are talking about using your own trailer, then you would use the www.primeload.com and that's just like any other load board there. See a load you like and call to get rates and accept.
