I started as a company driver with JBH. I then got a truck and leased onto JBH running under their own authority. While I was leased unto JBH, I obtained my own authority while still being leased unto JBH. I had my own insurance and JBH insurance. Yes, two different insurance policies on the same truck. JBH took care of IFTA, safety compliance, etc. Once I realized that the truck I originally had leased unto to JBH, the finance company would not allow me to run under my own authority. They literally breached their contract and at this point I do not have enough money to fight them in court over the breach. My contract said that all I needed to do was pay $10,000 plus first month truck note and I could take my truck and run under my own authority. I still have the original contract that I signed. The company then added their own terms which aren't in my contract. JBH also came out with a new contract which resulted in more money being taken out each week, increased overhead, but no rate increase. So, I gave them back their truck and went directly to Freightliner dealership to get my second truck. This time, I wasn't going to be leased on to any carrier.

Once I obtained my second truck, I applied to JBH power capacity solutions division otherwise known as PCS. PCS requires that your authority be active for 3 months. So, had I not had an active authority while I was leased unto them, I would not be able to move over to JBH PCS division. Also, I signed up with Schneider power only division. They require 6 months active authority. Therefore, there was a reason behind my plan.

I stayed with JBH PCS for 30 days. I'm now only JBH 360 and have added Amazon relay, CH Robinson, Coyote, and Convoy to the list of brokers that I work with. In 2021, I'll purchase a new trailer and stop doing power only all together with an option of adding a second truck to my fleet. I have some plans of getting a dedicated lane but I will not talk about that until it is done. Again, be careful who you share your vision with because not everyone is cheering you on towards success.

This path went against almost everyone I talked with exceptions to those whom I've mentioned in the previous post. The doubters said I couldn't do it. I would fail. I'm going about it the wrong way. Perhaps this was right for them. But for me, it worked. I'm making it work. I'm doing what they said I could not do. I do not own my truck nor do I plan on owning any of my trucks. I do not purchase used fleet vehicles nor used equipment at all. At 400,000 miles, I'll turn my fleet over for new trucks. The doubters will disagree. I'm ok with that. This is Haulin, LLC not John Doe's trucking, Inc. My way of operating my business will not be the same as any other carrier. We're in the same industry, but my company is unique in and of itself.
