By the way my company I'm leased on to allows both lease and owner ops to free lance off the load boards. You right your own paycheck here you fail your fault not theirs.

Yea they collect from the brokers . You negotiate the rate detention time stop pay etc. You get paid every week. Basically I do it all except I use their tel and DOT they get 30%. I usually avg 7000 to as high as 11500 a week I'm still learning been here 1year now. Not a bad gig fuel discount tire discount and shop . My tags are reimbursed at 35.00 a week I pay my own insurance. I can use their tags and insurance but I prefer my own come and go as I please.Tug Toy and shatteredsquare Thank this.

Well sounds like many options for the op. Basically they all said get the hell outta there while you can.
Do now my .02 recommendation. Go to closest van line agent near home. United, atlas, mayflower, north American. Other than a dot and physical no start up costs. (Most will pay for them for you) Dont think moving they all have (specialized) freight divisions. Some call it spec com, other high value products. If your a worker the van line will not let you lose your truck, house etc.. Yes you could GROSS more money some where else running 3000+ miles . But the same net and having someone who has your back is more important. Imho
