Is he looking at running grain? What part of IL? We are between Champaign and Bloomington. We would be happy to have you come by the office and could show you what DOT is looking for and talk about the games that are played with paying loads.

Regardless of how you are getting your loads it will come down to the Owner making sure they are getting what they need. I have seen one dispatch service that can deliver on what an O/O needs but they are 100% getting direct freight. So the high fee they charge is justified.

Clasix,
The short version is the first deal fell through. I was negotiating a rate with a company down there and decided to ask Buchanan if they had any ideas for me. Well, it turned out I did get a favorable rate settled on with the mud company. But at the same time the big boss at Buchanan told me to get my butt up to the midwest they had all the work I could handle.
I decided to haul for Buchanan because I have a good relationship with them from working as a company driver. So far it's been a good decision. But I still might go haul mud in TX when the snow starts flying. -
Wow that kinda blows...sorry to hear that I hope everything works out for you....so Humble (I think was the poster) went back to nursing?

I have a good friend that uses a dispatcher and from what he tells me I'm not sure why anyone would use one he told this guy he don't haul anything that pays under $2.00 a mile so guess what he hauls all the time........this guy also does not look at credit if he sees a load he just books it my buddy pays this guy every week he sends over all the conformation sheets for that week and a invoice for what he booked think it's 8% he has a lot of loads that are over 90 days some as far back as 6 months

If she won't hit the thanks button, I'll do it for her.
You're a good dude, Bill.BigBadBill and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
I agree with this. He's very open to answering questions and helping people understand the industry. I've picked his brain a few times myself. LOL
The thing is, if us smaller operations don't stick together, help each other out, the bigger bottom feeders will price us right out of business. Seems to me that if we all network together, like Bill is willing to do, then the independent O/O will NOT become extinct, but become stronger in the market. JMO though.BigBadBill and VisionLogistics Thank this.
