If your going to 1099 drivers to make this work , you are setting yourself up to fail. One driver gets hurt, finds out he has no workers comp and sues you. Then the IRS will find out and make you pat back all of your part on SS you haven’t paid, it won’t be pretty
Don’t think it can happen to you, I have a family friend that it happened too, broke him and closed his business.
mid you want drivers that are loyal and hard working you need to pay over .50 a mile with benefits on a w-2

Excellent!!! Think positive and do things the right. Way without cutting short cuts and you will succeed. A few Additional trucks won’t make you rich but they will pay for themselves if done correctly and they will cover for each other when one is down or driver is on vacation. My yearly revenues are based on a 44 week year. -

Why did you take the time to excessively exercise your thumbs? Just silly but thank you for your comment. It didn’t help at all but thank you

Of these failures, what specifically will be their downfall? Can’t make the truck payments? Perhaps they didn’t put enough money down? Can’t be profitable enough with the low rates to have it make sense anymore? In a low rate market, stopped putting money away for repairs in order to fill the tanks with diesel and then get walloped by a breakdown? What is the weakness of these next failures which made them too vulnerable?

I agree with your post. During these times, you definitely want to make sure you are able to to pay for un for seen problema that could occur; lower pay per mile, lower freight load payments, a definite maintenance fund obtained, your truck payments covered for a few months if you do have them. I am very fortunate that my fixed costs are very low and that is why I feel I will be fine during this market. Times will get better guys!! Think positive!!!

I'm not negative, buddy, I'm realistic. First, I have no interest in Bezos and despise guys like him. I know exactly how he has treated his workers to get where he is. I'm a very happy one man trucking company and this is how it will always be. I am living my dream.
Face it, your timing is piss poor. If you read on here for long you'll know just what you're up against. It looks to me like you've glossed over the basics and you think you're going go be a millionaire at this in a few years but it's not likely. But hey, prove me wrong! There are lots of guys out there who can't wait to get in your truck making .40cpm with no benefits so you can (chuckle chuckle) pocket millions working off load boards.
Keeping thinking the advice you get here is negative and check back in a couple years.tommymonza, danny23tx, amberfeldt and 1 other person Thank this.
