So of course being a new venture I ended up going with Progressive and paid 20K for first year. Gonna start looking into second year and get a few other quotes and see if someone else will be cheaper but with quality service. Who all have you guys used in 2nd year? I am from Missouri if that matters.

I’m a local hauler with 2 million dollar insurance,. I haul 73 thousand pound everyday and all day. I’m on my third year.
I don’t know over the road rates, but first year in bussiness through progressive I paid 7100 bucks, second year it went down to 6000. Just paid in full for my third year 2 weeks ago and my rates went down another thousand dollars. Actually a little more. 4900 bucks. Talked to my agent and she said it will most likely go down again next year. Expect to pay a lot first year In bussiness. Like I said, I’m with progressive and I even had an accident which I took out a Volkswagen but it wasn’t my fault.
Just FYI, progressive isn’t that bad compared to other rates. Mine are cheaper if not the same as other truckers I know that have Ben in bussiness for years. If you have Had infractions on your regular drivers license, then go to get commercial vehicle insurance, your gonna get bad rates. I have a flawless driver history. So moving to another carrier won’t help even if you can find another insurance carrier

I am OTR dry van and so far have not talked to them about renewing with them. Thought would be maybe I could get around 15K or Less.

I know that Otr drivers pay a lot more than I do but you should get renewal a few months before hand and see the savings. Did you get anything in the mail yet. It will still be tough to find another carrier after one year, but like I said, the rates keep going down dramatically each year with progressive if you keep your nose clean

I have Nov and Dec so that is why I am starting the process. I think I may have got something in mail but need to check when get back home. Just starting the process before too late. Gonna guess will have to stay with them for second year then should be able to find a better deal.

Well I didn’t see much of a drop renewing into year two. But I did receive a fmcsa letter at 1.5 years in saying we are no longer consider a new entrant company but a permanent company. So maybe that’ll help at renewal going into year 3.

I get screwed in California for insurance. My first year was $22k and my renewal is currently at $18k. Progressive won't even look at new ventures out here until the 3rd year.
