Just seen this on ats web ATS has the one of the largest privately owned specialized fleets in the US
true, but I called them today and they do hire owner-operators and need a few badly. I spoke with Jeff but he said OTR and 2 weeks out minimum. No thanks!
Sell the trailer and go over to a van gig. I just spoke with Schneider today and they want me on their Choice program again (i was on it for 3yrs then left for a tanker job) and with all my deadhead I was avg $1.65 for ALL my miles, which I try to keep under 2,000 a week
Am I missing something here? $4 per mile sounds pretty good to me! I don't see anything on any load board on the west coast paying much over $2 per mile and 90% of loads are posted around $1.50 per mile. (brokers don't seem to have any problem getting the loads done cheap and give you attitude if you if you won't to take it for $1.50, in fact they are more lightly to hang up on you!), I would not even think of hitting the road for anything under $2+ per mile and would want a load paying the same or more close to my drop to get back or onward etc! Am I looking at a different screen on the load boards than everybody else who says $4 per mile freight is not paying well enough to what their used to??????
When this was posted i was running hot shot loads out to midland/odessa,tx there is not one load going back so i was dead heading the 500 miles back to houston and was taking me two full days to do it load on monday at 8am would take sometimes 4-5pm before leaving drive all night drop the next morning and drive back after fuel i was only making $1,000 a load and running my tail off Best thing i did was go out on my owen!!!
I know that to be very true. We were running pipe out to Odessa. We sat for two days looking for loads then had to deadhead into New Mexico to get something.
10-4 Bayou Hotshot, I get the picture now. Have you ran much over the west coast at all? It seems pretty quite at the moment!
