So as a driver you expect to get your 25% after the broker fees are taken off the top?

If you're driving for a company, your percentage is based off of what the company got paid for the line-haul...NOT what the customer paid the freight broker. If you're working for an O/O leased to the company, the O/O's percentage is based upon what the company received for the line-haul, and the O/O pays your percentage based upon what HE received from the company for the line-haul.

In other words, customer pays 100% + FSC.

Broker takes his 15% cut from the line-haul and pays the other 85% to the company along with 100% of the FSC.

The company takes their 85% of the line-haul and pays 78% of that to the O/O along with 100% of the FSC.

The O/O takes his 78% of the 85% for the line-haul, and passes 25% of the 78% on to his driver. Since the O/O is the one paying for the fuel, he keeps 100% of the FSC.

Nothing illegal or unscrupulous about it.

Good to know. I have a driver who seems to think he should get his percentage before the broker takes his cut.

What is the average percentage that companies pay for hauling grain?
