Tell them to show you rate confirmations of the last 6 weeks. One persons operations may work with a driver and absent owner like yourself while others don't generate enough revenue to make the numbers work. If your family memebers have solid contacts and a contract to back it up then why wouldn't your brother work for them or better yet why not lease to them yourself

I'm just trying to get an idea of a break even point for most trucks. I know this is different for everyone but there has to be a ruff idea of what my break even point could be. -
You'd have to ask other drivers that's hauling what you wanna haul. Some guys consider at home exspenses into break even and some don't. What you're trying to figure out is what the truck needs to make weekly point blank. So figure your brother needs to make $1400 fuel on 2500 miles worse case would be $1500 insurance tags might come out to $300 and for maintenance with a $30k truck should be $500 week give or take. So $3700 could be your break even. lets hope the truck don't eat up more than $2000k worth of repairs per month

What if you lost money several years in a row? How would you feel if your 5 year plan got pushed out to 8 or more? Breaking even in that first year is very optimistic even for an owner who will be driving.
bigguns Thanks this. -
And I would be lying if I said I wanna break even my first yr I know it's probably not possible. But I can't afford to pay thousands of dollars of my own money out either. I can put a couple thousand back for a oh #### find but I need to atleast cover all my truck expenses every yr. paying myself isn't an issue long as bills r paid and money's getting saved for a motor fund. -
So all expenses paid every week counting my driver is it possible to do this for under 3,500 a week? That's my goal so I can save 1000 per week for every non breakdown week (motor or big break down fund)
