If you're sitting idle with no other income stream I would agree. Burning up your savings is a poor decision. However, repairs and improvements certainly do increase the value of an asset. You seriously think spending 25k on an overhaul doesn't increase the value of a 94 W9?
Any truck is worth significantly more when it moves under it's own power versus a broken down 20k lawn ornament parts truck.
It costs me about 250/month to let mine sit. I'll wait until the next boom and sell it along with my authority and both trailers. I think drivers just get trained to not be able to sit still from years of gypsy living. This mentality permeates all aspects of our lives. Your panicking over a broken down truck sitting for a little while seems indicative of that as well.
