And the list of those begging to work for nothing keeps on growing.

More go out of business and more buy $10k trucks to strike it rich. I have gotten some good 4-6 a mile loads but they were so far few in between. I get emails of lanes available and the rates that are .80-1.30 a mile on average. Not my cup of tea but if you can make it work go for it.

This isn't an O/O post, more of a company driver post. im in NJ, have been a local HOURLY driver the last 20 years. Now I will say I am tired of my current employer as its very physical and up to 15 labored stops a day. So Ive been looking around. Came across a very reputable Local truck leasing Company (like Penske and Ryder) They just signed a contract with Amazon and just got this new account started. What I was told is id get a new 2019 Cascadia sleeper that runs 74mph,ez pass, fuel card to use anywhere, park the truck at home or the closest amazon or the leasing lot.(10 miles from me) 57 cents a mile with .05 safey bonus every miles, full benefits vaca holiday 401k ,annual raise.. Run loads at night 8pm start time from NJ to ohio down to NC or anywhere within a 450 mile radius.. said other drivers on the account make 1600-1800/wk. (I make like 1250/1350 now working 50hrs if I maxed my hours id make the same thing) hub to hub all drop and hook. can reset my 10 at home few times a week and weekends off. sounds tempting, but I am not used to the OTR life and I am not used to NOT getting paid for everything I do. I dunno about it. They claim in and out of hubs in 20 minutes all preloaded ready to roll, but MUST BE ON TIME and have a good phone cause everything is thru APPS. what would yall do? stay put and go home every night, or give it a chance

A lot of the loads I did where drop, wait while the empty and re load and go. That for me was normally a 1-4 hour wait time. Some where also drop and hook a different trailer. Those runs where in and out almost all the time. Doesn’t sound like to bad of a deal but I was always a fan of hourly pay, days, and sleeping at my house at night. Hope that helps. Sometimes grass is never greener.
