1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

bryniac, every agent sets their rates with their drivers depending on what type of freight they move. There are agents that do mostly drayage and/or containers, some do dry, some do reefers, some do flat and some the combination of all of the above. There is not a "standard rate" per say. Also depends on which region you'll be running.

So I'm confussed who the heck are you! Do you own the company? I was interested enough to go to their web sight and leftlanetruckin is right can't get any info about rates or what IS paid.To me any company worth it's salt will state up front what they will pay, what will be reimbursed, what charges if any they have, how long to get paid and what kind of lds they do (ie flats, tanker etc). As an own authority O/O I need that info to make a decision about contacting them, why waste their time if they don't do what I do!

From what ive learned since being leased, its up to what terminal/office you pull out of, some pay by the mile and some by %, i only deal with the perry office so i dont know about other locations. I was told that e transport doesnt own any trucks but you think every body would either get cpm or % but i guess not, but im happy with what i do just running the southeast and home on weekends.

Variable rate, are these negotiated daily, or is there some kind of schedule??

Post a few examples, such as California outbound to the midwest, northeast, and southeast, with return trips, and midwest regional rates, and Texas outbound rates to all points.

    I'm interested.

Thank you for your interest, trees.

Too many variables to really post, as each office has their own freight and specializes in their own depending on the equipment and region. I can give you examples of the freight I run out of my office now for example, and that might give you a better idea of how it works.

For example, we have an office in Jax that does exclusively containers out of the port to NC. There is another office that pulls reefer loads out of Saint Louis MO to TX and to WI (we work closely with them on some common account). I do not know 100% certain what they offer / pay, but I know St. Louis guys are doing pretty good.

My office for example does freight in TX (mostly within the state) with some loads going to NM, OK, AR & LA and then returning back to TX. With those guys a rate per mile does not work because some loads (especially in the Dallas metro area) are just too short and the live loading/unloading is a killer. In their case, I do 70/30 split for the power only guys (and they can also do drop & hook) and 75/25 for the tractor and trailer guys, but they can only do my live loading stuff. Last week my top guy did $4,192.00 to him before fuel running 2285 miles Monday thru Friday, weekend and 3 out of 5 nights slept at home. Now he is a good example. His truck is not broken down half the time and he does not whine about taking a load because he does not get loaded / empty in 30 minutes or is more than 42K on the weight. He likes to work.

I also have drivers running the southeast region. In their case, I can't run them on a percentage because rates out of Florida are a shame and I cannot find drivers willing to pull for $ 0.70 cents per mile all in (I get about a dollar a mile from my customers all year around). That being said, it is my job to eat garbage with a competitive rate per mile to the driver in all his miles and gamble I will get the right freight to bring them down and not only recoup my losses but make enough to justify staying in business. In their case, I offer a very competitive rate per mile + 100% fuel surcharge. Also and very importantly, I pay on practical miles out of PC MILER instead of the short miles I get paid by my customer. I also pay for ALL MILES, loaded and empty. We offer fuel cards with a good discount network, direct deposit every Friday with no hold on freight and equipment leasing options for the O/O that need it. I also try to help the ones that help me and if I can afford to throw a few extra bucks on an expedited load I got a good rate, I do it. The last part I don't put in the lease agreement, but I'm mentioning it because that is just the way we try to be fair to everyone. Once again, that is how I WORK and cannot speak for other agents.

If I can help you in any way, just call me at 904-372-4941 and ask for Marcelo or Jay. Thank you for your time and sorry for the lenghty answer but i felt it was needed to make it clear to everyone interested.

I leased on with SunTeck Transport out of Jacksonville. I can't speak for the other offices/agents but where I'm at it's entirely up to me what and how well I do as I book all my own loads. 80/20 split, they pay cargo ins. and my trailer lease is now $85 a week, fuel discounts and a few other perks. I'm doing $2.00+ a mile to the truck running what and where I want. It's like being on my own but with the support of a larger carrier and available trucks should the need arise with brokers I work with. So far I can't complain.
