    But while we are on the topic (sorta)

    Do O/Os every hire out their truck? Like for a vacation, illness or other such time off? Or is that just a big PITA?

    I can't imagine any serious owner operator letting some schlub drive their rig while they was off for a little while? We get these hairbrained trucking investor types asking dumb questions on the forum every once in a while that might think it's a good idea though.

    PITA. No one operates someone else’s equipment like they do their own. The same way no one spends other people’s money like they do their own.

    If it were someone close, who had lots of safe miles under their belt, retired, but still had the hunger to drive once in a while, I would consider it. They’d get to keep living the dream and I’d take a vacation and or do some work around the property.
