There is a new cb shop open in the strip mall where the Waffle King truck stop is across from Love's on US231 in Ozark, AL.

Has anyone done any business with that shop?

It's 30 min from my house, but I haven't been able to stop by when he's open to get my radio fixed. Was wondering....

Take a look at this video and make a note of all his test equipment. If this new shop doesnt at least have a signal generator and a scope, run away fast. Good sign of a snip-n-clip hacker is no test equipent. They will hack your radio up modifiying it with a pair of wire cutters in one hand, and a cigarette in the other...

Very nice. Thank you. It's been years since I had to have a radio worked on.

Mike has a Youtube channel with many videos. I suggest that you watch a few to see his equipment in action so you know what to expect.

Mike is a really good repairman and he does excellent textbook work but I wouldn't recommend his tune. if you want to know what his work sounds like listen to the second audio clip and it will be a President Lincoln 2 that was recently done for someone that lives a couple cities over from me.

Notice the first radio that you hear sounds excellent because it was tuned by a different technician.

He might do okay at a basic tune but I wouldn't recommend having him do any crazy stuff like trying to make High Fidelity audio because that was what he was attempting to do on that President Lincoln radio and it kind of backfired on him

Here's another recording of his first President Lincoln tuned by a different technician and it sounds much nicer than Mike's tune.

Those kinds of mods work better with a push-pull tank circuit. Also, most techs either don't know and or fail to tell you that mosfets don't give true swing, they are technically power switches and shunt regulators at best. They are best suited for switching supplies.
