some p&d trailers are loaded by dock workers, some are loaded by drivers. i do not have a ratio or know who exactly does what. i know that mornings are full of hustle & bustle on an LTL dock.

Seems to me, the money is in P&D with a much greater chance of "milking the clock" than a linehaul that has set hours. I did a linehaul for a couple places, and that's where you start, aside from an upset, there's really not much you can screw up, where as, in P&D, it's very competitive, if you can't do it, someone else will. Loyal customers want dependable service, and no place for a newbie. Personally, I'd never do a P&D again. My nerves just can't take that anymore. "Where are you now"?,,,"How about now"?,,,"Back out to west side,,FOR ONE PALLET,,@ 4:30?, I just came from there",,

Box Truck doesn’t seem bad except it usually means less pay. Stay as far from a liftgate as you can though. It’s a nightmare. Freight to large to get off, not to mention the risks involved.

Beware that with XPO, even if you are P&D, they can bump you anytime to Line. And yes, you can get into Line right outta the gate, buuut your run(s) will be hell. If money isn’t a concern of yours, stay away from LTL. There’s much easier/safer gigs out there.

And stop wasting your time and just pull the trigger. The sooner you get going, the sooner you can land an ideal job. There’s someone that will hire you tomorrow AND train you AND pay you while you train!

I know, but to give him the benefit of the doubt, I’m going with he’s just anxious to pull the trigger.

Well, hold on, I don't think so. This isn't FB, and unlike FB, is watched pretty close for trolls and yes, it does get old, but this is an informational site, one I would have killed( or at least maimed) for years ago. I agree, they are dragging their feet, but want as much info as they can get to avoid what we did by trial and error. I think they're questions are legit, and I'm happy to help, even with outdated info, it's why I'm here.

If you don't like to read @I love tequila 's post you have the option of putting him on Ignore. You're perfectly within your rights to do that.
Most people, after reading unwelcome posts for 2.5 years, would have done that already.
TTR has no need to have "post padders" on the payroll and your inference that we do is not based in fact.

If you think about it this would be a better explanation than your theory.

Thing with LTL, is it's very costly, today and most run the biggest wagon they can find, and run that guy ragged, instead of a bunch of little trucks, running all over creation for one pallet. It sounds like you'd be a natural for beverage hauling, if you got the back for it. Mostly all box trucks or single axles and small trailers.
