I don't think they did that last time I was there, but I'm too cheap to pay that anyway, & I like the challange.
Long time ago when I worked & H&R, a young lady driver of ours pulled in & tried 4 or 5 times to back in with no luck she said. I wasn't watching or I would have helped her. She saw me on the dock with my Company coat on and asked me to back it in there for her. I told her over & over that she didn't want me to do that for her. With everybody watching and all. She said yes do it for me cause I don't have time for this today. So I got in her truck, pulled it up & reset it, started backing up & wouldn't you know it, it went in straight & true first shot. I didn't even need to pull up to straighten the cab! Man did I fell bad, I was apologizing like crazy, I couldn't believe it. Hell it took me 3 shots with my truck to get it in!![]()

Tight? Aw you box boys don't know what tight is.....
-
I'm not even going to list all the tight places that I had to put a 48' and sleeper in to make a delivery. Even now, some of the places I have are TIGHT for a 28' and daycab. And let's not even get me started on my HHG days
-
Try making a delivery at the Smoot company of Kansas City Kansas. No dock at all, AND if you are driving a 53 footer you have to back in to the plant. Their driveway is about 1/3 of a mile long and its got some curves the street where you have to get turned around is VERY tight. I still have sweats thinking about that one.

It's the challenging days that keeps life interesting...
Gotta hit the hole they want it in...even though they have a bend in the gravel road right in front of the hole, so you have to jack the trailer slightly to the blind side keeping the trailer tight to the right side of the road (but not too close, or it'll crumble) and put 'er up...but while you're going up, you have to watch the dump to make sure it stays relatively straight while keeping your other eye on the tractor's left side to make sure you don't fall off the road.
All in a day's work.

How about loading the upper house of a crane?
You need to be dead one the money side to side or the load will be off balanced?
Had that today. #### stinger on the trl. kept walking me to the right side. Allmost ran over the crane jack pads. You do not want to do that when it's holding the crane up in the air above your trl.
Or years ago when I used to haul brass rod.Had one customer in Ny. city. Right on the paperwork it stated no trk. longer than 165" wheelbase and tamdem trl. no longer than 38'
You had to back down in the lower level and work around the support posts to get into their dock. -
I guess you have no desire to do Local LTL. Any dock i get to hit is a Blessing!
-
You get the back er up to there and we will get the boys out ot help you in a bit deal right?
-
Finally got tired of this. My last company had the most ridiculous customers. I'm done.
-
No, I have to learn how to put pictures up though...... That dock doesn't look bad at all to me sans the blindside - I think there is room to pull up and just straight back it in
