Congratulations on the new gig!!! You're gonna do great there!

Oh....I jumped the gun, I thought you committed to P&S

HS Express doesn't do doubles anymore. We sold the pups to another outfit.
We do haul a crapload of steel, though. Includind slitted coils.
Source: Once and again driver for HS Express.jamespmack Thanks this. -
Wonder if we have crossed paths then. Knew a bunch of guys who left HS when P/S took over.
Just a lonely independent truck. -
Cool Thanks

Maybe? I was the first hire through P&S after the early take over when Jr. sold majority interest in Mizar to P&S. And one of the last to be hired in at the Mizar payscale. I ran with them for almost three years, then took Roger's advice and bought a truck. Followed Larry over to Kaplan until I hit the grand combo of entire DPF system went sideways AND the bottom fell out of Steel due to lockdowns.
Went back to HS in May of this year. The takeover is complete. It's not bad, if you live in Toledo or on the I-75 corridor between Cincy and Michigan.
It's not really working out for me this time coming out of NW PA, but P&S in general has a really hard time holding on to drivers around here. Too much cheap local competition for decent freight.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
Melton will pay you a mileage over a percentage. They’re pretty open about their current pay scale on their website.
I did good there but left after my first year for greener pastures. I know they run an all automatic transmission fleet now with automatic braking and no APUs but an idle setup of some kind…
You will see the whole country with Melton. P&S is a mostly regional/east coast outfit. I tarped probably 80-90% of my freight at Melton Truck Lines aka Must Tarp Load.
Don’t have much bad to say about Melton other than typical big fleet bullsheesh. Get your experience in and look for a smaller company, IMO. It’s the only way to do it long term on the super slab. Best of luck.cke and Speed_Drums Thank this.
