Sometimes we get to see some very scenic routes, but as a car hauler all I see here is a damage claim waiting to happen with the low tree branches. Actually this is a very nice part of Pennsylvania just south of Easton. @KANSAS TRANSIT you know this area quite well!

Hahaha, stop it, you're making me homesick, yeah my mom/dad live about 7 miles from there and my wife relatives are from Riegelsville, surprised the canal is that empty in the second pic, most of it had quite a bit of water in it about a month ago when I was out.
haven't been that way in a while, if you really wanted low hanging trees head south on 611 and then go SE on 32 to New Hope, I know it's one lane now, but before the flood washes half of it away I would run down thru there once in a while IF I had a "low" load.
I'm assuming that you got off at the I-78 junction BEFORE you got to Easton? I think that Lehigh river bridge is like 11' 4" I have been under it with my Pete empty thou, just so I could say I did!
Did you stop at the little Ice Cream Cup for a Sundae?
Thanks for the pics B. -
Stan, I have been down thru New Hope before, but only with my two car carrier (flatbed) and personal vehicle. I take the truck route bypass that takes you over I-78 past the service entrance to the toll bridge facility and out right next to the waste water treatment plant. Even if I could fit vertically, which I could have southbound as I was empty and maybe even northbound I only had a Focus on top, It is way too tight to squeeze thru downtown Easton with my truck when I can go around. You can get off exit 75 going east and turn right then left, go past the Phantom Fireworks store and it will get you past the low bridge but it sure is a narrow road.
As for the canal being low, they had it dry in several spots where they were doing some repairs to the little foot bridges that cross it, usually it is quite full and fairly clear water. BTW, I was technically in Riegelsville when I took those pictures, though of you because I saw an open garage door at someone's house that had a few antique cars and a Grand Prix in it, made me think of your stolen and recovered car last year.
No on the Ice Cream Cup, tempted but I need to avoid those treats for a while, since coming back home from Albuquerque I have regained all the weight I lost out there, so back on a diet for me!KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
Yeah, tell me about down town Easton, Last time I was out there I was coming back from Jersey and was going to stop in and see my parents, but there is no truck parking in their area, so I have a place down off the Lehigh River that lets me park there when in town, but I am usually coming in from the west, so I turn off at the Glendon bridge off 25th street, and turn down to the river, a bit tight but I make it.
Anyway coming from Jersey I figured I would come across the old bridge (22, not the old/old bridge with the 3 ton limit) and I would just jump off first exit right off bridge and go under bridge onto Larry Holmes drive past Mcdonalds and turn under the train bridge to get to the river road, well, that didn't work.
As soon as I got to the toll booth they have a sign that the under bridge loop exit is closed, so I figure no issue, I will just run 22 out to 25th, the ONLY problem with that is they never told you that the lanes split right off the bridge!
Hammer lane goes out 22 and the slow lane, which of course I was in because truck tolls were on that side went directly into the second exit, which takes you down to the bottom of college hill AND the exit to go straight across and back on 22 was blocked off, so two choices, up college hill, plainly marked no big trucks OR go left and thought the down town circle.
Hey, I'm from here, no problem, except when I get to the circle which is usually two lanes all around, they have the outside lanes blocked off so effectively you have ONE lane around a circle that was laid out in oh I don't know, about 1750 or so.
I manage to get to the circle cop sitting on one of the cutouts, sees me coming and steps out of his car, and just stands there watching me, did get around all the cones and turned down towards the Mcd's as soon as I clear the circle they are putting up some high rise, only two lanes total, and I think they are about 9' wide, lol
Made it though that got to mcd's turn right, go left onto river road, and down to park. Probably wasn't the worst situation I got myself into, but I bet it's been a while since a rig that size has been around the circle, lots of wide eyes and finger pointing thou.brian991219 Thanks this.
