Anyone else notice from the arial footage that the 5th wheel plate was ripped off and sitting on the frame right behind the sleeper and the rear drive axle was pushed forward on the right side of the fedex truck. There is also a tire wedged under the frame of that tractor as well.

A passenger on the bus told KDKA’s Chris Hoffman, by phone, that the bus was hit three times by tractor trailers. That passenger was heading from New York City to Cincinnati.
Crash on Pa. Turnpike In Westmoreland County Kills Five and Injures At Least 60

When I got home, I knew with finality thats the end of that Bus BS.
That section of turnpike is a bit of work but not too bad if you are rested.
I hate to see 50 people in trouble like that its a mess. A royal mess. The Cumberland option for detour will be wearisome to some not used to it. Might as well run to wheeling via morgantown etc. -
The 53 footer next to it belongs to them too!
Both of those drivers are going to have some serious explaining to do!Bud A., drvrtech77 and Cabinover101 Thank this. -
I have hesitated in expressing my view and it is strictly my opinion. Having spent 20 years in the bus business in my 57 years in the transportation business and now looking at these "mom and pop's" bus companies that have sprung up all over the country since de-regulation, there is no way that I would step foot on one of these buses. You think truck drivers have sunk to a low level, you need to educate yourself on the bus drivers of these small charter and tour companies.
Someone posted in an earlier post that the bus was hit 3 times by a truck or trucks. Mostly likely the bus hit one or 2 of the trucks, not the truck hitting the bus. 3am, bus traveling from NYC to Columbus, Ohio or Cincinnati. This tells me the bus probably left NYC around 9 or 10pm the night before. You take the story from here and if you can add 2 and 2, then you can most likely figure out what happened.
I have said it time after time, drivers for these small tour companies are not "professionals". Most of them are retired from other professions and are doing this part-time. Then the HOS were never changed for bus drivers. I can leave point A 3am go to Washington DC tour all day, take the group out to see a show that night and dinner get back to point A 3am the next day and never violate the HOS. BUS DRIVERS ARE NOT UNDER THE 14 HR. RULE. They can operate 24 hours and still be legal.
All I got to say NOW!stillwurkin, 201, Bud A. and 5 others Thank this. -
Pennsylvania State Police said the tour bus was traveling westbound on the highway from Rockaway, New Jersey to Cincinnati on a downhill curve when it struck an embankment and rolled over. After the bus rolled over, it was then struck by two semi-trucks before a third truck collided with the two other semis involved in the initial crash. Another vehicle then also became ensnared in the crash site.stillwurkin, Bud A., jammer910Z and 1 other person Thank this. -

Sounds like unless it's a sunny 70 degree day outside, PA is just going to have to put a ban on all commercial vehicle traffic...
Can't drive in snow, rain, or fog...drvrtech77 and bigkev1115 Thank this.
