I own a 2013 mx13 with 645,871 mi on it. It has been trouble free. A few warranty issues. I do 30k oil changes with paccar filters and delvac oil. To this day the engine does not use oil or coolant. I do the overhead every 200k at the same time I pull and clean egr valve, egr cooler, bake the dpf filter, change. def filter, clean the after treatment sensors. So for me I would buy another. My father has a isx 15 and the motor was replaced by cummins at 185k mi. Not rebuilt but replaced. So I guess it's really a crap shoot with any new engines.

UPDATE... 30,000 trouble free miles since yanking out miles of Peterbilt wiring and electronics (after treatment).... Its actually a great engine. I am 585 HP to the ground, never used a drop of oil, and zero days in a shop. NONE of this is a result of ANYONE at Peterbilt, Paccar, Rush Truck Center, or Kenworth. It is 100% me and a very good electronic guru. He hacked the ECM, and did a few things to the rock under my passenger step (that I can't talk about). He locked the engine ECM so it can't be seen by anyone without the code so I can still go to a Peterbilt shop if I have a problem out on the road (like a sensor or something that only Peterbilt/Kenworth can access). All other CAN's and ECM's are accessible. I feel like I can make money now with a truck that runs everyday. Desperation breeds ingenuity.

You said it. I've also had thoughts in the past about doing that with a Maxxforce because they were almost GIVING those trucks away.

It was not easy, you need some mechanical understanding and a very good computer guy. Don't fall for the over the counter flash that you get for a few thousand bucks...

Hmmm last I checked every scr def engine brand available in North america in production since the beginning have had after treatment issues. If your dense enough to listen to a SALESMAN tell you how efficient and better on fuel his motor is compared the competition's then buy it and don't complain when YOU listened to the guy who reads a brochure given to him by the dealer he represents saying all the strong points about their product line. Of course the salesman is gonna make you believe that there are rainbows that shoot out of the exhaust pipe and the truck gets ten mpg with no issues, he a f@c%en salesman

I have been told that WI does have a "lemon law" for class 8 trucks and if I ever buy new to do it at a WI dealership.
