I sound like I would vote for Cruz, but if he is not the candidate I would vote for anyone that's not a communist.

How would repowering solve the OP's problem? The engine is working fine,it is the aftertreathment that has problems.
-
I'd put just as much blame on CARB and EPA as well. Paccar, Cummins, Navistar and Detroit were all forced to develop new and untested technologies to meet these rediculous emission targets. Are Paccar and Maxxforce more prone to failure vs Cummins and Detroit? Most likely yes. All the manufacturers should be working to improve their products and that is where Paccar is coming up short. The root cause is CARB and EPA and as far as I'm concerned, everyone should be launching a class action suit against them, manufacturers included.

CAT are still using the C15 ACERT engine in their CAT highway trucks in Australia up until 2022, we don't get your emission standards until that year as far as I can make out. Our federal government realises that the latest technology is creating so much drama and wants to give it time to sort itself out.
We've got the PACCAR MX engine as well, but it doesn't have your latest emission controls on it and it doesn't seem too bad for single trailer Kenworths. For B Double and roadtrains everyone uses Cummins ISX, again without the latest emission controls you guys have.BostonTanker, taxihacker66 and rachi Thank this. -
They never stopped putting C15's in D8 dozers. Off road equipment is phasing in the same emissions standards as highway equipment the only difference is the time frame for phase in was longer whereas it was railroaded and rushed for highway trucks.

The new cat 980 has def fluid on it.....

and this is why we are going in the direction we are going in this country.
Wouldn't be better to hope they find the problem and fix it? and fix or repower everyone's problem not just yours?
so that we can keep the competition going so that we can have more choices with better product like we used to have before all the EPA crap.
Think about it, Paccar goes out, then eventually Detroit so now the government start to panic and gives Cummins a break, and they are the only diesel engine builders for the entire industry.
what do you think is going to happen to the little guy or the big trucking guy when there's a problem?
Your way to see things. I don't like Fox News, lets boycott them so they can starve to death.
why not change the channel?[/QUOTE]
Paccar and Peterbilt LIED TO ME... They didn't work hard to build a better product then have some problems that need to be worked out... They built something that does not work then LIED TO ME about it. That is why I want them broke, out of business, and NEVER able to steal the future of another small business owner. They deserve everything they are going to get. Remember, this isn't coming from a lifelong Freightliner guy, nobody in my family has ever owned anything but Peterbilts, probably 50 trucks in all... That will end with me.rachi Thanks this. -

You are all missing the point. Its not that Paccar engines or ATS or electronics are better or worse than any other manufacturer. Its not a matter of who is to blame (EPA, CARB,) for these requirements.... I will say this again. The issue is that
PACCAR LIED TO PERSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS
PACCAR LIED... Do you guys get it?
Paccar tried to cover up and hide the fact that THEY KNEW they could not build a system that was dependable enough to put on the market. THEY KNEW (and still to this day KNOW) that they can not fix this and they continue to lie and sell this system.
THAT is what the lawsuit is about. Anybody still need clarification?
Go to a Peterbilt or Kenworth dealer and ask them about the dependability issues and they will tell you that their trucks are as dependable as any other truck on the road, this lawsuit aims to find out if that is a lie. I happen to be one of the people who believe it is a lie and Paccar knows it is a lie. We'll see what the legal system says. I posted this to inform perspective buyers of this suit, that is all. I wanted to tell my story (about being lied to by Peterbilt) because nobody ever told me the truth before I made my choice.
