Pablo...have you heard of truck exporters removing the UPEC units from the 2002~2007 engine and retrofitting the old mechanical injector pump? There are a lot of Nigerian guys buying them up here at the moment for export and claim to be retrofitting them back to mechanical systems abroad....ideal for desert conditions
-
yeah, it is possible, but it is emission standard downshifting to E1, no Cruise control, no speed limiter, wrong EBS operation, no engine torq limitation with ASR.....and less miles per gallon.... abot 15% difference
-
most truck manufactures already offered kits for exporting
-
I sugest it would be easy to convert Paccar MX to E1 too!
-
not sure for mx but old one 12.6L is possible to convert to euro 2
pablo since you are deal with mercedes volvo ....
what kind of differences are on actros
i see that they are offered still e2 norms even in mp3 on middle east markets
and
what kind of differences are offered in MAN they have d20/d26 engines with e2 norms -
E2 PLD is the software thing. Calibration data in Flash memory differs (29F400BB). and no exaust filter, no PCV, no SCR, no EGR.
I used to swap MR and FR control units on E5 trucks converting them to Euro-III
Hah, it is not all injectors, E2 and E3 cyl. heads are different. -
thanks i can see often here in my town new mp3 euro 2-3 trucks
mostly like 3357 3358
bodybuilded here for all global markets -
Yeah know lots about them! Heaps of junk ! Owned 2 of them, first one expired at 230,000 kms the second at 540,000kms! Please save yourself the misery and expense of owning these piles of steaming c**p, they have alot of problems, they burn oil at a rate that will shock you, they crack and warp heads, you will need a water reservoir to keep the rad fed with water, Ive only seen one to make 1m kilometres and it was ########## !

I have just replaced big end and main bearings on two of mine.
Older 12,6l models.
Just preventative maintenance 710 000km (443750miles) and the other also somewhere over 700 000km.
I should not have bothered .
I will check if we still have the bearings , I will try post a photo or two.
Very little wear , almost new.
I have just had to strip the heads off one with only about 400 000km.
It developed very high sump compression all of a sudden.
No 6 piston had a piece of the crown missing.
There was also a crack on the opposite side.
We had a bad batch of antifreeze.
It had eaten a hole through a welch plug.
The driver reported it on his return from a 1500mile trip loaded to about 55ton.
He said he would just add water every now and then and he never let it get to hot.
I suspect this is where it picked up the damage about 100 000km ago as there is evidence of old heat seizure..
Replaced the welch plug and the truck ran well up till now.
I also have another one+- 800 000km that I must do injectors on because it is smoking black.
I believe when this starts you must act quickly , I may have left it to long.
I believe with over fueling or injector drip these engines aren't to forgiving.
The problems I have had are down to human error so I'm happy so far.
Now don't get me started about the agents.
In my area they have sold about 400 in the last few months.
They don't have shock absorbers or piston/liner kits available in the whole country.
Probably better where you are from.
