I was just issued a 2015 truck with 76k mileage.During initial pm,the oil filter was damaged, paper material was throughout the filter, probably sending oil, unfiltered through the engine, through a bypass system.I believe the original filter system has been retrifitted with a newer design.

I always have changed out factory fill oil on motors by 10,000 miles. Then I have worked my way up to the recommended interval. Each person has their own comfort level on how they do things. For a new MX-13, doing it at 10,000 miles, then doing it at 30,000 miles would fit nicely with the 40,000 top end adjustment thing. Then next go around try for the recommended 40,000 miles and see what happens. If it does't have good results, drop back to 30,000. I have not operated a truck since 1992 that didn't go at least 20,000 miles on OCI, and one, a Cummins N-14, that got 30,000 mile OCI's and did 1.4 million miles before being sold, and no engine work. No snake oil additives, no bypass, nothing but conventional Kendall 15w40 with Baldwin filters.

We have 3 new mx13 T880 kenworths here, all of them use a fair amoubt of coolant and oil. Adding both every week.. Also all three needed flash updates, causing down time... Otherwise, comfy truck to drive.

B10 means 10% will fail before the mileage given. B50 is 50% will fail

So many mixed reviews on Paccars Here I am looking into a 2015 Kenworth with a Paccar engine sitting at 468,497 For 49k And here I thought I’ll cehck maintenance records etc if it’s well maintained golden but it seems even from 25k miles these are. Ehhhhh lol.

    F.Y.I.. on my epa 2018 MX-13, @ 455hp I have only had a broken DPF. $4700

But that is not the motor. The after treatment is a Cummins part I dont hold that as a "Paccar" part of the engina
Soo only 11,500 miles on a 5 axle Dump, I'm getting about 5 - 6 Mpg avg city only.
not drinking too much oil, (none lately) had to top off coolant only one time (normal)

Id have to guess like with any engine, theres a bad/ lesser ones in any number.. How many millions of these are out there now.. im happy with the motor so far.. time will tell the long run
++++I do plan on getting an extended aftertreatment system warrany!!!!!

On the internet youll pretty much only find complaints, people dont post if there NOT having problems vs people that have problems overpost and complain everywhere they can (and rightly so)

same is true for pretty much anything on the net... complaints, everyone hear me!! no problems.. silence.

    Onemanshow and Boundtransport Thank this.
