I think your last sentence says it all.
You hated it before you ever drove it.
And you drove it accordingly.
See it more then once here on TTR.

Well, please explain to me what I did wrong then when driving it. If a truck won’t pull a load well, it’s under powered or not set up correctly. I typically am top in our fleet in the fuel bonus program, my Volvo rarely had issues. If you were to call Ryder and ask them for the write ups on the Freightliner I just started driving, you would know I am not a steering wheel holder type. I catch a lot of things because I inspect my trucks thoroughly.
I have worked on and operated 3406B cats, N14 Cummins, DDEC 3 500, D13 Volvo. Of all these motors, the Paccar was the weakest and had the most issues. If the emissions were removed, and the timing advanced and the ecm reprogrammed, it would probably be a good motor. -
And for the record, I don’t run rpms up to 1600. I rarely go past 1300 until I get to 8th or 9th. I just had to run those Paccar motors to 1600 to get up to speed.

My brother in law runs a private fleet of over 800 units. They have every brand and type of truck. They will NOT buy or lease anything with a Pacar motor for the last 3 years.
That should count for something?BigHossVolvo and Oxbow Thank this. -
