When you arrive at orientation they will focus on making sure all your ducks are in a row with your application. Have everything with you so that process goes smoothly. We lost a few people the first day of orientation when they didn't have complete work histories or other information.

Most folks bring a backpack or briefcase to orientation. When you are accepted to orientation the company should e-mail you a list of what you should bring, which includes all the paperwork requirements. It was staggering how many failed to bring what was required.

I would add to list for newbs, if not on there already, a 5th wheel pull bar. I've been out 5 wks from a back injury releasing a 5th wheel that didnt rease when I pulled it(my back did!). Cheap insurance, you don't want this.

Yes.. some do.. i didnt leave the comment to imply such or be sarcastic.. trailer wheels cannot roll or one defeats the purpose of taking the tension off the 5th jaw/lock

Back against trailer to make it easier to pull 5th wheel latch.
Pull ahead against trailer and the strongest man in the world cannot pull the pin. I used to do that to prevent some disgruntled driver from pulling the pin. It happens a lot in this industry. You get the blame..
Driver get canned and blames every one but himself and will cross lines and pull pins to get even. . That is one good reason to pull against the trailer then set the tractor brakes.
