Hi all, as the title says I've been looking into paid CDL training and found enough options to overwhelm me. At the moment I'd consider going to Roehl depending on what they say about me being an hour out of their hiring area. Otherwise I think Wilson Logistics might be a close 2nd. I'm just wondering if I missed a better option somewhere in my searching.
I have a clean record, no tickets, accidents or anything like that that would cause an issue. Located in the SE corner of SD if that makes much of a difference.
Only specifics are my current obligations mean the entirety of the training period would have to be paid some amount, not just once I'm in the truck on my own. I could make Wilson's $200 a week for the first few work, I eat pretty cheap.
Not necessarily a dealbreaker since I'm not sure it'd be the best idea in my first year, but the option to bring a pet along would be a major plus. One dog around 60 pounds. I'm fine with having to pay a deposit or whatever to have him.
Of course the higher the CPM the better, but I make $10.50 an hour right now so most anything would be better than that.
Other than that I can't think of any other specifics I'd be worried about.
Paid CDL Training, almost too many options

City in SD? Looking for reefer, dry van, tanker, or skateboard? @Chinatown will be along shortly. But will need this information.

I'm about an hour from Sioux Falls. Leaning towards either reefer or dry van, at least until I get my first year in. Definitely willing to give tanker a shot once I'm settled in.

I didn't know Wilson pays during school. That's good info.
Wilson has an excellent reputation.Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
From what I was reading it's more like a cash advance. Thing I saw on their site said up to $200 per week for 2-3 weeks while you drive on the permit. Then you pay it back $25 per week once you get your CDL.

Here's one that pays hourly during cdl school, plus meals and lodging.
Doubt pets can be taken though, since it's a milk hauler outfit.

MCT did sell out, but you can ask the school what's going on with new students.

Taking the dog; I'd focus on Wilson Logistics.
Prime Inc. also allows large pet dogs.Lumper Humper and bobklobb Thank this. -
Roehl pays close to 500 a week for school then around the same with your trainer. I think their pet policy is up to 60lbs at Roehl. Good choice if they’ll hire you out that area.
