Hey there,
I have been thinking about my CDL since I got my regular drivers license. I am 27 years old, single with no kids. Just my dog.
I have experience hauling with gooseneck car trailers, as well as rollbacks hauling tandem. I am ready to get OTR and see the country while making money.
I am curious if anyone knows of any companies that pay for your CDL training in NC
(closer to Raleigh/Fayetteville the better)
I have looked at all the schools and with my budget I wouldn't be able to afford the time off work from my current job(as I would be quitting) alongside paying for the school. Most schools near me offer a 4 week program, which I could afford to not have income during, but cant afford the school at the same time. I don't qualify for the WIOA program.
I have looked at a lot of the mega companies that pay for your CDL, but I live alone with my dog and don't have an option for her to be watched until OTR alone.
Are there any of the megas that will pay for training at a third party location within reasonable distance?
Are there any companies that have training facilities in NC?
Are there any companies in NC that offer payment plans for CDL schooling, that aren't 12-16 weeks long?
I am determined to make this career/life commitment and if anyone has a suggestion on which route I can take in order to get my CDL and job given my situation I would greatly appreciate it!

Probably have to put the dog in a kennel until you get an assigned truck after all training is complete. Other drivers on this forum have done that with success.

May have to attend school out of state, depending on where the company will train you.
~
Stevens Transport | North American Multimodal Logisitcs Provider

Ask this company where you will be trained and about when you can take the dog. Transportation to the school, meals, lodging is provided free to you.

CDL Training Program - Wilson Logistics
545 East Evergreen St
Strafford, MO 65757
Can take the dog after training.
We pay for your transportation, lodging, breakfast, and lunch. You cover the cost of dinners.
In cases like this where you pay for dinner, if money is tight, take some canned goods, mac& cheese, or anything else you can cook in a microwave. A microwave is usually available with your lodging.
