It's not a powered mic in the sense you're thinking.

It uses an electret element which requires a small amount of current to produce any usable output.

This in reverse is why stock mics from "little radios" like the Uniden 510/520 won't work on larger radios. Those mics have electret elements powered by phantom power on the audio wire, which the larger radios usually lack. (It also means that you can wire the SL41 to not need the battery on those little radios.)

Ya know what,that sounds familiar..Its a different type of power mic as in compareing the sl41 vs the asatic red devil....

Well, the SL41 didn’t do well on my radio, kept getting a squeal, Eric even sent me another one with his adjustment accordingly for my radio(he ask what i had and the set up)and it still squeal, so he told me how to make another adjustment and still didn’t work.
If I’m gonna pay some good money for an item, it should work properly, anyways, I will stick with my SRA 198...... I always get compliments on how crystal clear it is.

Mine does the same so i just turn down the talk back or mic gain..
I usually have my mic gain at 75% and tb is just on but not usually turned up..
