Making it sound as good as the sl41 has been quite a challenge. One way to tell what its potential is would be to switch it out with the element in the sl41 and see if it sounds identical. If that's the case, the surrounding components are directly responsible for how it sounds more so than the Electret itself.

Yes that’s my thinking too. I don’t think the mic element itself could make it noise canceling, but the surrounding material of the mic. -
The mic element itself has sound entry ports on the rear as well as the front which should make it noise cancelling, but I'm thinking the circuitry on that board is more critical than I previously thought.
-
Two things.
Is that your only reason to think that it is the right element?
I don't think that the circuitry is as critical as you think, it is a filtering design, nothing else that I can see. I still question the 12 volt input of the circuit where the AAA battery is used to power it.Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
The battery in the sl41 was a red flag for me from the beginning. But what do I know.
-
This was the main reason.

Got it, but ... you do know digikey is having a run on those parts now thanks to you, the last time i looked, they sold three of them in 24 hours and only have 17447 left in stock. You better place your order quickly.
-
I need to master the ones I have before thinking about buying more.
-
What's there to master, talking into the microphone?
-
Fidelity. This schematic is useless. The SL41 has too many components to fit them inside the bakelite case. Without those components, fidelity is lacking.
