Between the two, there is a difference of eight components (outside the element) and these can be really small.
Take the power conditioning/current limiting components out of the schematic of the SL, it looks like a band pass filter is all you have.
By the way I am wonder if that schematic you got from Eric is actually the right one, because it looks like the element is a three connection element, not a two connection element like this schematic is.

It seems like the simplest thing to do is rip the board out of an SL 41 since it already has all the components necessary and I can epoxy it directly into the case. I don't really have much room inside that bakelite case for too many individual components.
-
How big is the case, 2x2?
-
This case.
-
You've got a lot of room.
-
It's a pretty tight squeeze
-
Naw, You can put a whole radio on that space.
-
Guess ill keep the sl41 i bought a cpl months ago then..
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
A few months ago I was experimenting with mic designs using the electret element. I chose 1k ohm element from digi-key, p/n 102-1722-ND. The first pic is basically an astatic d104m6b modified using the electret element. It still has a nice mellow sound to it, kind of like fidelity.
The second picture is just a basic board using a 2n2222A transistor. Both mics have a nice clear sound thanks to the electret element. I had a pair of old ear phone foam covers that i used on the mic elements to act as a wind screen. -
The only problem is, I need a specific voltage into a specific load, with a specific frequency response curve. Without test equipment, the easiest thing to do is stick with what already works.
