Best of luck. I had three companies on my short list, prime, roehl, and swift. I chose Roehl. I applied to and was accepted at all of them. I paid for my CDL training up front $3200 for 3 weeks in wisconsin and have received most of that back already. They will also finance it and pay it off for you in about a year. Swift is similar in how they train for your CDL, just not as nice of a place.

Prime is unique in it's training. They pay you but......you're on that team training truck for a longer period, thats what killed it for me. And be sure to equate the truck speed to the pay per mile.....the slower you go the more you should make per mile, but at the end of the day that can equal out with higher speed and less cents per mile.

There is a lot of prime out there running and they aren't gonna go away and you will get your pay check....

I was always scared of PAM. Their equipment doesn't look that good. Doesn't seem like i see many of them out on the road. Their training school advertisements always seemed fishy to me. I think they also have automatics.... Go with a stick, you will have more control of the truck.

Great advice. I also have Swift on the short list, but never really looked into Roehl, but I think I might just too see what they have to offer.

About the only benefit to PAM is being able to park at the closest Central Transport terminal to your home. Prime would be OK if you didn't mind being the new Swift. Those meat loads do pay well.

Beaumont, Texas - 55 Miles away. Next would be Houston 130 miles away.

Houston would be easy to get to. Walmart DC, Kroger, grocer's supply, clorox.....

There's a good choice. Millis Tranfer has a CDL school in Burleson, TX.

indeed, see all the options out there. Millis has good gear and a good rep. To train for Roehl you would have to go to wisconsin...which really isn't an issue if you plan on going out national in a truck..gotta get used to it. Roehl has terminal in Grand Prairie and yard in Houston. Lots of options, do your due diligence is my advice and then make that decision.

I have to admit Millis does look pretty good so I will keep them in mind and thank you for referring Millis..
