When the snow/ice flies, and it takes 3 hours to cover 90 miles, my paper log says I got through it in time to take a 90 minute nap, roads were good.

If you ever have to change a log page, never, ever for any reason (including running out of emergency paper) keep the old copy anywhere in the truck. If you happen to be one of those pleasant people that pisses off the DOT cop and they search and find duplicate pages, you are in some trouble.

In a scale after a level 2 the dot cop told me to update my book before i left his office. I made a mistake and asked him how i should document the correction. He told me "tear it out and start over... that's what you normally do, right? "

Haha. Good guy. That doesn't happen often.

Exactly! I remember my trainer with CAT 10 years ago ..... Old guy cool he slept all the way! Close to Montreal we wer in traffic and he told me that he could drive! I said no! he said .... yeah but the log book?! you have been driving for over 8 hours and we passed 3 accidents!

All I said was which accidents? The log book is fine!...... he went back to sleep god takes care of his soul!.... want it or not trucking is an adventure! I see it differently now after 11 years with no accidents! but what they told me in school remains! an object that moves has 100% chances to hit something! You are what makes it go around :p

DOT officers are not the devil! In fact I had the chance to meet one that probably saved my truck and / or my life.

If you are clean with your papers and they see that you are not driving 800 miles EVERY DAY..... they do not look for trouble! Women are different though!

Don't get stopped by a woman or you are ####ed!

That goes with respect for self! I guess every officer that got into my truck had respect for how clean it was inside! Did I get violations? yes but not tickets and sometimes I wish I did!Violations stayon your PST and you cannot fight them in court!

It would be fine if we had 70 hours to drive but we have to show pre trip, fueling, delivery, pick up. All that adds up and eats away at you're 70
