Just too fragile a system. Trucking was always a "load and go", not waiting for someone in Timbuktu at the "switch" to wake up, or getting a new keyboard from spilled soda. In the meantime, this truck won't move, and could have dire ripple effects downstream. This person misses their appointment, at places that I'm sure will understand( not) their truck waiting has to go without whatever the person waiting was carrying, and granny has no strawberries at Safeway. A silly scenario, but a much more serious situation could happen, just to drive a freakin' truck. I swear, you take Rip van Winkle the trucker, who was asleep for 50 years, and showed him trucking today,,,

I'm no artist, but a great idea for a cartoon would be, all the future trucks are at the side due to glitsch, and he come's ol' "semi retired" in his old BC Cummins Kwhopper, pump on "manual", pulling a flatbed with a big dollar sign strapped to the bed, arm out the window, whistling, WHO'S STUPID NOW???

I did a paper log also. The kid in my truck refused and just drove. The last kid would not do it either when we broke down and got put in a rental.

Might be surprised to learn how many trucks on the road yesterday were just driving no hours logged in any way.

It must be your impeccable slav squat while they go over your logs.

I got put OOS for an hour a few weeks ago for not having one day off logged in my loose leaf binder. He had to assume i worked the whole day and went over my 70.. Until i realized i um... Had no loads that day, yeah thats it. Let me make a log and off i went, thank you sir.

If i was in the OP's shoes id take one log page to annotate that the prior 7 days i was in training from 8am to 3pm or whatever. Then a proper day 1 paper log for that first workday.

"This is my first day, please teach me sir" will get you a lot of mercy with most troopers.

Yeah. I haven't tracked mileage at state lines in 20 years. But I do remember its 177 miles across TX panhandle on I-40 and almost 900 miles across TX 3 other routes.
