Most Motor Carrier Road Atlas's have a really good log example in them and also have the entire break down of how to fill out and what the rules are. The Motor Carrier Road Atlas has a wealth of information in them and is very handy in helping you remember the rules and regs. If yours doesn't have this then throw it away and go buy one that does! Don't cheat yourself when it comes to this. This is going to be one of your most important tools so spend the extra few bucks and buy yourself a nice one. Amazon.com is a really good place to find them inexpensively and you can usually buy last years edition for 50%-75% off. Its also good to buy the large laminated ones. This way you can get a set of dry erase markers and write and take notes in them and its easy to wipe off.

I haven't seen that happen. But then I do not deal with the normal "mega fleets". But the carrier I am with has been on e-logs for a couple of years now and I have never gotten a call or message to stop or get moving or whatever. I decide when the truck will move, I decide how fast it will run, etc. I do it in such a way that it really doesn't raise red flags to anyone in safety, while at the same time, I meet my customer commitments. I do feel for those that have no intestinal fortitude to tell a dispatcher to stay focused on what they do, and the the driver will stay focused on what they do. I don't try to do an office person's job, and I will not have them trying to tell me how to do mine. In over 3 decades, it has not gotten me fired or laid off. It really is not that hard. But some folks are sensitive to confrontation. Like I said, I feel for them.

Exactly...I was on Elogs running teams and am on elogs as a solo now. Neither company has ever said anything about how we drive. I usually drive the 11, because I get layover pay if I stop and take a 34 hour restart. But I make daytime multi-stop deliveries now, so I'm usually working on my 14. But when we ran teams, we never drove 11 hours. Usually 8.5 each, and never took a restart, unless loads got slow enough one of us could. Usually the first one was easy to get, but the second one took some work.

Drivers for megacarriers WISHthey could run 11 hours . A big part of turnover is due to newbies not getting enough miles to pay their bills .
The real brain dead ones are the ones wanting to stay on paper so they can work 90 hours a week and show 70

Us guys running 90 are making more $$$$, that is why were all out here anyways...maybe your out here sight seeing....

I've tried to argue this with lazy elog drivers but they never see my point...to each their own.

Maybe many of us on e-logs have a real life and are enjoying hometime while you're out there running yourself ragged another 20+ hours a week
