    Thanks ya'll, I do have a prgram on my smart phone that is a recap program. i looked into DDL on line as well. Guess the thought of starting with a new company, old ways, and such is a bit over whelming. Sad to think i have relied on a computer for so long that i cant actually do with out

    If you pull into a scale and they have you come in, there is a National database that you were entered into that will Tell on you WHEN and WHERE you were. WRITE THAT TIME, DATE AND LOCATION in your little notebook.

    It will come back to haunt you if it's not correct.

    yea write down your mileage at everystop no mater how stupid a stop. you might find you need to push your logs and you will have the mileage to do so. also always log about 3 under the speed limit. and never what it really took you....example you drive from point a to point b. its 140 miles. it took you 3 hours do to traffic. the speed limit was 65. so take 140/62 which is 2.25806 so log 2 1/4 hours drive time. now you have gained 3/4 hr drive time back. van and refeer i always log 15 mins load or unload with a pti. flatbed i log 30 minutes and pti. fuel 15 min and time i log a stop i show a pti.

    aiwiron and chalupa Thank this.

    I didn't see it mentioned but if it was, my apologies. You need to log at home terminal time, your timezone from where the truck starts out from, if it's central log to that time, etc. They should cover that in orientation as well, and they should help you out as to how the company wants them done.

    Daylight Savings Time is coming up soon as well, there are discussions about that every spring and fall (Late winter and late fall).

    aiwiron Thanks this.

    Logging is simple.. first real goal is to get out the FMCSR and READ section 395. Secondly as it was noted here NEAT is the best thing your log can be. If a log is neat, it doesn't look like garbage and it looks like you were actually awake when you completed it! KNOW what is required to put on the logs and KNOW that the company CAN and will have some rules on what THEY want to see on the logs also. Just keep it up to date and take it seriously! The BEST way to log is when your but hits the seat, you update the log, when your butt is about to leave the seat, update the log... continue until your hours are used up... get in the proper and required breaks and repeat.. its not hard.

    PTI = Pre-trip inspection.

    I normally mark mine VI in the Morning for Vehicle inspection and at the end of the day "Post".
