I want a paper copy anyway. Your log isn't just for dot, it is also evidence for IRS per diem and driving record to establish experience. Dot officers aren't stupid, they can tell the difference between a driver trying to hide something and paranoia regarding technology.

Meltom Thanks this.

I understand both sides of the issue here, and being on the hometime fleet one trk is E-logs and the other isnt. So I run a paper log all the time regardless of which truck im in. For me its just easier to keep track of. AS for the DOT I dont have a problem
showing them both logs and explaining why the company has me run a paper log for back up and after the hiccup Quallcom had two weeks ago, Im glad I do. -
I think it would be a good idea for everyone to keep a paper back up. I really think this would be a non-issue with the DOT.

Well my fm informed me that i am the only truck left in his fleet without e-logs, so guess what I get this weekend up in Marshfield?

Treefork sorry for your luck... The e-logs really are not that bad, it just takes some getting used to. I was on them before I got hurt, and they did work out pretty well, once you learn your way around. Now Meltom teaching someone how to do e-logs is where I find the humor. Oh well, good luck.
