Call in and explain it to your company, if you're on the companies property you wouldn't necessarily have to log moving to a dock. I figure if the FMCSA suggests 2 miles before auto switch to driving, there must be a reason for it.

it probably wants to make sure ur moving...EOBR's use GPS to figure speed and movement...the problem is you can sit perfectly still and still move almost 700 feet easily because the satillites move and other interference...thats why it doesn't trigger till almost a mile or 2 and a steady speed of 15 mph plus.... hell the other day I went to a DC dropped my trailer...put myself off duty while I was traversing the massive parking lot...then went about 2 miles down the road to a Flying J..and parked...and lo and behold I was still off duty... its weird sometimes how this qualcomm functions.

Actually I'm pretty sure the EOBR is mandated to use the truck's ecm to determine driving. I was stuck in accident traffic for about five miles and the EOBR showed that I was on duty not driving as I changed locations three times. That is one of the things that has drivers upset. They don't want the police being able to access the truck's computer through the eobr. That is why there is such a concern over privacy. If the dot can access the ecm then they can know everything about the way you drive and use it against you.

that's very true, on people net there is actually a view start and stop option. It shows you every time the truck moved regardless of status.
