Yee Haww back in action. Figured out how to do the on screen keyboard on the laptop, and I'm back in the instigating business. Opps forgot we had a mod on the thread.
Lady K, tangerineGT, TruckDuo and 2 others Thank this. -
Parked at this truck stop in ID as planned.
I don't like being on the front row facing fuel bay...
but all the best spots were taken and I intend to leave at 2:30 am mountain time and don't want to have any difficulty getting out... Besides, there's a fenced area right to my left so nobody can park there...
I think I will be fine...
After delivery tomorrow in OR will head to Washington for my reload and that will go to Dallas, TX.... Yeeehah!
-
Currently at home but got a load going back to Dallas at 3am. Feels good to be out if the truck.
Lady K Thanks this. -
Well we are 'holding tight' at a rest area near the WA/OR border... Hoping this broker that was referred to us can find us a load south... No luck on our own... Unless we wanted $1.25/mile with 45K on board... NOT!
-
Well our load going to Dallas got taken away. Instead we got one going to Harrisburg, PA that wont delivery on time so we'll be stuck with it till Wednesday morning. This is the part about trucking I dislike. Our 6,875 mile week gone to hell.

Don't know Jack about west coast markets (our cab cards end along I-35), but before you hold too long you need to make a call: 1. Is it even likely you can score something decent, maybe a short hop to a better market? or 2. How far away is better freight and maybe better to go there empty and gain some time by not waiting at the rest area for a load that won't happen?
Edited to add: I see elsewhere that you made the move to run empty to a better place. Good call!
If it makes you feel any better, I'm going to be deadheading 277 miles tomorrow after unloading here in scenic western PA. I could spend $50 on the turnpike and save an hour + 50 miles, but not in a hurry so taking the free road. If I hadn't had this load booked today, I'd have gone 70 miles west to the Valley Grove, WV T/A and staged for a SE Ohio load. Thing is, I know this market well enough that I don't even need 5 minutes to decide, and don't sweat a couple hundred empty miles. I got paid well to be here in the 1st place.
Also my wife had an opportunity to ride along this trip, so getting to see a part of the country she hasn't seen before. Makes the longer, free road route all the better. Lucy the dog has finally gone enough days from her spay surgery to ride too. She's behaving so far and doing a good job of licking the windows.
