Two nights ago I was parked at that big empty and dark parking lot... took the pic in the morning...

After loaded, ran to my co. warehouse in TN... and took my 10 right there... nobody else but me! :yes2557: Dropped loaded trailer, got an empty and ran to my hometime location.

Truck now is parked at my rented parking spot and I am at my regular hotel... in TN

Started my day at 5 am central time, arrived at parking location at 8 am, at 11 am I left truck with all the stuff that I needed in my vehicle... After stopping at post office to get my mail, I checked in the hotel at 2 pm. Then, stopped at my storage to get my printer, cooking pot and other things... then, went to Walmart for groceries... At 6 pm I was back in the hotel room... started cooking something to eat... Have a BIG LIST of things to squeeze in the 5 business days off...

Well... will have some fun tomorrow... this is, if I can get a response from a friend and can go to their place for a visit... and planning on going to the movies tomorrow to watch "America"... :yes2557:

One dock to bump at Costco in College Park, GA. before taking a few days off myself. I'll pass thru the Petro on the way back to top off the reefer and maybe get thru the Beacon for my summer truck wash if the line isn't out the gate LOL. Yesterday PR and I were commiserating about DC area traffic and I shared my Saturday morning drive after reading about his on Thursday. I never get tired of reading these extraordinary days people write about, so I'll subject everyone to two of mine LOL.

I want to say the traffic started just south of DC about where they are doing construction on the express lanes, about the 158 or so. From there it was pretty solid down to about the 130mm. Then congested every mile or two until the TA exit 89. I live in the ATL area, so not skeered of a little traffic jam. This was the second worst I've ever seen. I kept thinking double-U Tee Eff. If this is what it's like Saturday morning, holy crap what the weekdays must be like!

#1 was back when I was taking night classes at Georgia State in the late 90's, driving from the northern suburbs to downtown. One night an airplane carrying mail crashed into a bridge over GA-400 and burned during the PM rush hour. In my original version, I was mistaken about a few facts. Minor injuries to the pilot, but she escaped. The mommy van driver that the wreckage fell onto while burning didn't make it. There was a third car involved, just a glancing blow. IIRC, that driver assisted the pilot out of her wreck before it went up in flames. I was southbound and just missed seeing the crash by two minutes. I was about 2 miles back when the traffic gridlocked at 6pm and could see the tops of the flames and smoke. I did not move until police started moving cars backward up the on ramps at nearly 10pm. That sucked. But I was glad I peed before leaving work LOL. The NTSB report of that crash is here if you're curious or bored LOL.

Oh yeah, coming around the SW side of I-495 I see a semi ahead with the 4-ways on easing down the shoulder. Figured he must me nursing a flat. As I got closer it just didn't look right. His trailer was dog-tracking halfway into the lane to his right. The truck was bucking and the trailer tires smoking. Somehow his front trailer axle had broke loose on the right side. That was away from what I could see from his left, maybe a wide single flat that did more damage when he kept going. The left front was "steering" the back of the trailer to the right, the whole mess dragging down the road. I was speechless. Who the hell does that? An NFI driver, that's who. I called 911 and reported that one. Hopefully they caught him or the truck stalled before he flipped the trailer over and killed someone.

Parked at QVC in Rocky Mount, NC. Was told that I had a load to pick up last night. Well it won't be ready until 11am this morning. Good one guys, made me come down here and break my reset for nothing, lol.

That I-495 in MD and VA has one of the worst congestions IMHO... I was there few days ago when I went from CT to VA... :biggrin_2552: What a drive that was... congestion on I-95 in CT due to too much traffic + construction, :biggrin_25510: then congestion on I-95 in NY and GW bridge... as usual... :biggrin_2552: then, congestion from MD to VA during rush hr... :biggrin_25521: Sometimes it's a REAL challenge to stay cool... But I try to look at the "positive" side... at least I am not driving in Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo, Brazil... they have the 3rd worst traffic congestion in the world... :biggrin_25523:
BTW... I used to live in Atlanta, GA years ago... I think their congestion is not as bad as the one on Washington beltway... Will be going to Atlanta on Wednesday... hopefully will get everything done in one day... Shall see...

Sorry Pack, to know things are not running very smoothly right now... Hang in there man... Hope you find something enjoyable to do till then...

I tried. Bobtailed into Rocky Mount looking for a decent place to park other than outside the QVC gate. Nearest "truckstop" had "no overnight parking" signs. Nice.

FYI my truck stop app shows a Lowes and Sams Club just west of town. I've had good luck at most Lowes in their side lot near the loading area. Might be busy and full of cars since it's Sunday though.

I just parked NE of ATL in my rental spot. No line at the Beacon this morning so got that shiny truck going on for a few days LOL. Now just need to wipe the dog nose and slobber marks off the windows and blow out my trailer. A little more work having a dog along part time, but she does do a good job of walking me, chewing stuff, and keeping an eye out. Here she's watching me to make sure I'm walking away before she tries to steal a glove from beside my seat. Fortunately I got wise to her glove burglar tendencies and hide them in the side box now. Watched the heffer in the Atlanta Petro re-brew the same coffee grounds when I pointed out the tank was empty. I gave the dark blend a shot since there was some there. What was I thinking? Unsurprisingly, it tasted like coffee flavored water. Since she looked in the basket and hit the button on that one too, I suppose that was at least the third trip on those grounds. Yeah I poured that out in the men's room and did not get my second cup today. I don't think that location could suck any more if they tried real hard.

In sharp contrast, the coffee tanks at the Petro in Carnesville were freshly brewed when I went for a cup at 0300. I love that stop for staging early AM Atlanta deliveries.

Hope you get some fun in while you're off Red. Back to the grind today. Got a 0900 appt in Staunton Va tomorrow. Bout ready to get back out west where traffic doesn't interfere with my nature watching. I'll be buzzing up 75 and 81 later today. Y'all keep the shiny side up.
