In my case, that's when an scanner with a feeder tray comes in handy.

We don't run the OH Tpk much, I never have. I finally was on it last week moving from PA for a quickie, good paying load I picked up in eastern OH due to a schedule gap. I saw the DQ signs on the food options for the mm 237 service plaza and HAD to stop there to boost the fat and grease allowance in my diet. I'd heard OH service plazas were nice, but holy crap! They managed to design that place like an airport food court. Made me want to cancel my load so I could get a shower and spend the night there! I almost stopped at Panera for a healthy sandwich, but with restraint I stuck to the double cheeseburger plan LOL.

I set a personal record over the past 8 days myself, first time in a while that I've had to watch the recap. 4311 miles on an 7.5 day stretch. No drop & hook turn arounds, no coast-to-coast hauls, 5 loads all live load. This is why I make the tongue-in-cheek remark about you "professional drivers" out there. It's out of respect because I'm allergic to hard work like that, and a lot of you are doing that much all the time. Nothing record-breaking for you when you do a week like that.

On the other hand, there's now just over a week of paperwork and bill paying to get caught up on at home. Plus a little truck project with the rusty service panel that fell loose from my apu on the way in Saturday morning. I'll go to Home Depot and pick up a couple pieces of galvanized sheet for a little pre-work at home. Then take the patch panels and some new bolts, my drill, and taps out to the truck and close it back up before the next trip in a few days.

Believe it or not, I considered a tape solution when figuring out my next step after noticing the panel hanging loose at my fuel stop in Ashland, VA. The black gorilla tape would have been sort of camouflage as it matched the paint not eaten by rust yet. I keep a roll in the side box, along with white duct tape for patches inside the trailer.

That, and/or buying a couple bungees in the TA to secure it enough to roll, were considered. Having reached a point in my schedule that minutes mattered, I figured pulling it off would be faster and avoid having to stop again when the tape or bungee failed.

Regarding the final repair, I am one to over-engineer a patch so I don't have to do it over again any time soon. Maybe one day I'll call on one of those dealers that sell used apu's and try to buy a good bottom case half and just replace mine. However, the cheap inner voice keeps telling me don't worry about it LOL.

After 35 years on the ocean my first inclination was always replace everything with stainless
but fabricating at the welding shop would be extravagant in a company truck :biggrin_25523:

Hey Red... :biggrin_25519: I would like to congratulate you for the record... :yes2557: But since you don't like it, maybe I should not... One thing I would like to mention though is that for me personally, running long miles is not hard work... :biggrin_25512: It's fun! :biggrin_25519: I haven't been doing this long enough... and not tired of it yet... :biggrin_25512:
