You're right but....Constant regens could point to a failing EGR valve....Delta pressure valve...Or the EGR cooler ready to die....
BTDT enough times....I'd figure I just pass that along to spare others the hassle if possible...

That was my point , slushy def is not causing a manual regen to be requested ....something else is.
-
I don't have a DPF since I have an '09....But the DEF is after treatment correct?
-
Yes , it's liquid spayed into exhaust stream after dpf. Sorry for jacking thread.....
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
That's correct for most applications.
Volvo is a different animal it seems.
Apparently when it detects the SCR unit freezing up, or whatever is going on inside it, it will request a parked regeneration because Volvo designed their SCR and DPF to not run active regeneration when running down the road. So in order to clean out its second SCR poop chute, it flashes a "SCR performance low. Engine Derate soon" and calls for a parked regeneration even though the DPF doesn't really need it according to the soot level gage.
Apparently the only way to take care of the problem is run active regenerations.
Also it's designed to idle at 700 rpm to run the "Clean Idle Mode" and uses the Variable nozzle turbo to maintain combustion chamber temperatures but after extended idle during below freezing temperatures it will bump the idle to 1500 rpm and run its own "parked regeneration" for about a half hour to warm things up.
This seems to be the way the system is supposed to run. Check engine light came on after i left but it's a Volvo, so when is the check engine light NOT on!Cat sdp Thanks this. -
Well....If that doesn't work....There's always the good old-fashioned "Honda Tool"...

@truck duo. You know I always read right by this thread and never peaked in. Shame on me. Read post one to be sure of what it is about. I will be participating in the future.
In fact I can tell you I will be at the J in Emporia KS tonight. Have to catch a flight out of Wichita and you know we are chained to the pilot for showers. -
Parked at Gateway Refrigerated looking at how they built a warehouse into the mountain. How cool is that. Waiting for my pick up in the morning that's going to Greeley, CO.
